Kilima Kidogo resort. Zanzibar.
Kilima Kidogo resort sits on probably the nicest beach on Zanzibar – between Jambiani and Paje beach. Kilometers of empty white sand, turquoise sea and green luscious bushes who sometimes want to crawl in the sea, or so it seems.
We stayed in a double room on the second floor with a view of palm forest. May is a month where all other resorts are closed except for Kilima Kidogo. Dina, the owner, is a kind soul with lots of experience in touring Zanzibar so if you need any advice about tailoring your trip she will help you. She also has a cool accent 🙂 They have a tour operator there every day who offers tours all over the island so you don’t need to think about anything and just relax. They can also arrange transport.
The restaurant offers a variety of food, some Western and some Swahili, always delicious as the chefs were trained by a Southafrican chef. Our favorite was the fish. Where to eat sea food if not by the sea?
Resort is perfect for families or kite surfers who want some privacy but still have lots of room for surfing equipment. If kitesurfing is your thing than East coast is the way to be. Jambiani beach has a strong low tide so it’s not easy to swim at some times of the day. Kilima Kidogo saved this with the pool, so no worries.
Oh, and don’t forget to spot the ginger cat, lounging on deckchairs 🙂
