As I am writing this, we are sitting in our beautiful spacious loft in Samahita retreat. Mic is upstairs (yes, we have two floors!) and I’m downstairs looking through our balcony. We are in a program called YogaCoreCycle for the past 3 days and are working on our fitness (which was close to zero before coming here) and meditation skills. (Marble top from SquareOne). Wonderful Neja from Zen Zone, travel agency for the soul, invited us to Samahita retreat and we gladly responded. It’s always a challenge to…

Beneath the mountains, where the fast flowing river Ganges is still pure, there is a small town called Rishikesh. It is supposed to be the world’s center of yoga and meditation, maybe because the Beatles visited it in the sixties (but still I think it’s not so easy to find a good yoga instructor). We came here from Haridwar because it’s much more serene, just looking at some grenery and the wind in your face is fresh and nice, it almost smells like spring is coming. I miss…

I caved in. Fudge ayurveda and the cramps in my tummy, give me some antibiotics! It did get better 🙂 We didn’t do much these days as my love affair with the toilet was pretty hot. But today we rented a scooter and went exploring the outskirts of Pushkar. We even found a desert! We roamed bad road full of holes and got lost among the local villages. The kids were waving and giving us a high fives. Quite hurtful fives they were, those kiddos can punch 🙂…

Ashram is a very special place. Buuuut on the other hand it’s a very normal place. Most people probably think it’s strange religious voodoo place where people drink blood and go into trans. Well, not exactly but if you hear someone singing Hare Krishna, you go across the street and avoid them. At least in my hometown. And who would have thought we’re going to be chanting these songs for 11 days, twice a day. Not me 🙂 This ashram’s is dedicated to two gurus. Swami Sivananda and Swami…

”You have such nice colors!” Thanks. I think. I actually didn’t know if he’s talking about my pants or something else, like my aura. Some people here have different interests 🙂 A guy from our neighbor country spent 11 weeks in Vipassana, the silent meditation. No speaking for almost 3 months. And looks like any other guy you meet on the street. I don’t think he engages in stupid conversations tough 🙂 We chose Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Meenakshi Ashram because of the program yoga vacation. We wanted to learn the…

Sri Lanka was a very comfortable country to start with. Friendly people, easy transport, good food. Nicest place for me was Hikkaduwa, very easygoing and the apartment was the best. Tomorrow at 3 am we’re flying to Chennai and there we’re starting our India journey. I wonder how different it will be. Probably a lot. I’m not sure if the wifi is as popular as here and on the 16th we’re going to meditate a lot. We’re going to Sivananda Ashram in Medurai for two weeks. Can’t wait!…

In Hinduism, Sadhu means ‘holy man’. Sadhus are ascetic, wandering monks that have been around for thousands of years. 4 to 5 millions of Sadhus live in India and have much respect because they are supposed to have special powers, like burning off karma, resolving conflicts in the families. Marijuana has an important role in their rituals. Some people fear them for their curses and some think of them as beggars. They live a meditating life in ashrams and temples, while the urban centre is all around them…
