Toy road: In the forest of fairies.
Our second day on the Toy Road led us through a beautiful landscape with purple flowers lit by a yellow morning light. The small town of Lichtenhein has a unique mountain railway in the midst of beautiful Schwarzatal valley. If you like hiking, you can hike in the forest and take the funicular for beautiful views. It was a peaceful ride in an open cart and we enjoyed the sun rays after a rainy day. We finally got to try the famous German sausage with cabbage and it was delicious.
Close to the funicular is Fröbelwald – park for children which is educational in a playful way. We stole some moments to take pictures in the beautiful forest and found blueberries. Right from the bushes, they were delicious!
In Saalfeld we found our way the fairy land. Beside the caves with beautiful formations of dripstones was a children’s fairy theme park where even grown ups can enjoy the fairyland. You know, make a wish! A little bratwürst before dinner and we were off to Neuhaus am Rennweg. Close to everything but really quiet by itself. Where is that local brewery when you need one? 🙂
