Our stay at 5footway.inn hostel in Singapore.

Our first time in Singapore! Wow, this is another world, especially when you come from other (a bite less developed) parts of Asia. Because of expenses we limited our time in Singapore to 3 full days. In big modern cities like this, hostel is our go to accommodation. Luckily we don’t have to compromise our comfort 🙂 5footway.inn hostels are modern, new, clean (squeaky bed linen clean, the kind I like the most :D) and affordable.

Established in 2011, 5footway.inn is a place where curious, witty and fun-loving cultural explorers dwell. More than just a typical budget accommodation provider, the hostel chain provides a unique experience for all their guests by offering them alternative insights to exploring Singapore and its culture.

Project Ann Siang

We crashed at Project Ann Siang hostel for one night which is in Chinatown and were hungry as hell. Luckily, there was this Chinese barbecue restaurant just under our hostel with such amazing food (and prices, too!). It looked like we were the only tourists but we really enjoyed the loud and tipsy Chinese locals 🙂 Oh, the view from the terrace of this hostel is amazing! Skyscrapers at night <3 Our room was beautiful and had its own little terrace. Every room has AC (very much needed because Singapore is so hot and humid) and each bed has its own power station with plugs, lights and switches.

Working hand in hand with Singapore’s local talent and making use of the spaces available in Project Boat Quay, the hostel strives to be a platform to showcase the works of aspiring artists in Singapore. These artworks, be it photography, illustrations, paintings or drawings, are specially chosen to make up the gallery because each and every one of them tells a story about Singapore’s significant changes and successes. Whether in-room or in communal spaces, guests get to learn a little bit more about Singapore’s culture everywhere they go.

Project Boat Quay

Situated along Singapore River, 5footway.inn Project Boat Quay is positioned between conserved colonial government buildings and skyscrapers in the Central Business District. We moved here for 2 nights and this hostel is even nicer! It was recently renovated and has an amazing view! Ohmygawd, you need to see this view. It’s the most spectacular at night.

The rooms are nice and designed in a very minimalistic. There are several types of rooms so there is a lot of choice for people in groups or solo. The hostel is close to several metro stations and if you walk to Marina Bay Sands (around 20 min) you get an amazing view of this part of town (the best way is to walk there and take the metro back).

The hostel offers free water and coffee/tea and has a great common area to relax or meet other travelers. There’s also a BW gallery with interesting pictures from a local photographer. The best thing is the night view of the river. At night, when the lights are lit, it’s a million dollar view 😉
